Let's get this straight. The 2nd Amendment of the U.S. does not give Americans the right to bear arms. The 2nd Amendment of the U.S. does not give Americans the right to protect themselves and their families from personal and political harm.

I can see some wise, old grandfather nodding in approval because he has long known what many of us have forgotten or have been purposely, yet erroneously taught. The U.S. Constitution (including the 2nd Amendment) does not give Americans any rights at all. Our Constitution confirms and affirms our inalienable rights; rights which already and will always exist.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

On September 17, 1787 the members of the Constitutional Convention signed the U. S. Constitution in Philadelphia. They well understood that few Americans were, or would in future generations, be Constitutional lawyers. Yet our Founding Fathers wrote a Constitution, which even a modern-day Constitutional lawyer could understand. Whether that lawyer would choose to do so is a matter for his or her own conscience.

For the past seven years, America has had a President who referred to himself as, among other things, “a constitutional law professor.” As with many statements which have come from this Democrat and the sycophants in his administration and Congress, this is a complete falsehood. But the fact remains; the President of the United States and his dangerous minions are determined to crush the inalienable right of law abiding Americans to protect their homes and families.

Our Founding Fathers, despite the unceasing effort of liberal politicians and educators to tarnish their reputations and influence, knew exactly what they were doing and why they were doing it. They had lived under the crush of totalitarian government.

They understood that armed, law abiding citizens would be the ultimate protectors of freedom if threatened by the ambitions of powerful politicians. They fully understood the corrupting nature of men and women who would taste even a morsel of political power.

Former U.S. Senator, Tom Coburn from Oklahoma is a well-known and trusted Republican conservative. I should say “trusted” by fellow conservatives; the liberal Democrats have another word to describe Dr. Coburn.

Be that as it may, the media quoted Dr. Coburn in regards to his recent report, “The Militarization of America”. “The number of non-Defense Department federal officers authorized to make arrests and carry firearms (200,000) now exceeds the number of U.S. Marines (180,000).”

In the past few years civilian agencies within our federal government have spent nearly $1.5 billion on military equipment, guns and ammunition. These federal agencies include the IRS, EPA, HHS, FDA, SSA, USPS, DoE and others.

Recently the Democrats took over the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives demanding that legislation be passed which would begin to disarm America. But let's be clear. They were not demanding the disarming of the Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Inspection Service (not a joke); the Democrats were demanding legislation to disarm you … the law abiding citizens of the United States.

Charlton Heston had many great roles in his acting career. But perhaps the best line Heston ever gave was no act. At the 2000 NRA convention he lifted up a musket and said, “… the divisive forces that would take freedom away, I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed … From my cold, dead hands!”

Our Founding Fathers could not have said it better.
